Since 1974, Toowoomba School
of Yoga, under the guidance of its Principal, June Jackson,
has offered an integrated mind-body approach to yoga. June's
vision has been to provide students with a holistic
understanding of how to use practical yoga techniques in
their own personal health management and lifestyle
choices.
The School's goal is to
assist students to best navigate the journey towards their
own personal integration of yoga within their lifestyle and
life choices.
The Mission Statement of the
School is:
- to enhance the
individual's lifestyle and personal development through
effective health management within a yogic system of
teaching and practise; and
- a commitment towards
standards of excellence within a quality of assurance
process in the development and delivery of training
programs and client service.
In 2000, June consolidated
her years of teaching and learning into the establishment of
Yoga Queensland (Training Division) Pty Ltd as a Registered
Training Organisation offering nationally recognised
training courses.
June's own journey into Yoga
began over thirty years ago when recovering from a serious
illness. June found yoga as a pathway to her successful
rehabilitation, and as an ongoing focus to rebuild her own
health and personal development within a traditional yogic
system of learning and teaching.
Since taking this pathway,
June has been both student and teacher learning from some of
Australia's and overseas finest Yogic Masters.
Over the years June has
travelled extensively to further both her training and
professional standing in yoga teaching and training, health
management and research
- A member of the
International Yoga Teachers' Association (IYTA) since
1969;
- June undertook initial
yoga teacher training with Margrit Segesman at The Gita
School of Yoga, Melbourne;
- Appreciated the
privilege of working with Roma Blair in Sydney with IYTA
as well as with other teachers from the 60's to the 80's
in the development and delivery of teacher training
programs in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane;
- June holds a Diploma of
Yoga and Yogarudra Certificate from John Mumford of The
Samkhya Scientific Yoga Assn;
- Obtained a Certificate
of Hatha Yoga from the Government of India sponsored
Goraksia College of Yoga, Kaivalyadham,
Maharastra;
- Received a Master of
Yoga (Acharya) from The President of International Yoga
Fellowship, Bihar School of Yoga, Monghyr, India where
she spent a residential period of time studying with
Paramhansa Satyananda Saraswati while researching and
transcribing some of the School's instructional
materials;
- Returning from travels,
and at the request of IYTA South Queensland teachers,
June wrote modules and co-facilitated inservice training
for the IYTA teachers delivering the first IYTA Sth Q'ld.
Teacher Training Program.
- Pursuing her interest in
the Psychobiology of Healing within the Ancient Healing
Traditions, June obtained a Master of Applied Psychology
from The University of Queensland;
- Currently a Member of
the Clinical, Organisational, and Forensic Colleges,
within The Australian Psychological Society & a
Member of The Australian Society of Hypnosis,
- June has worked in
application of yoga / therapy in public and private
hospital and community health settings, in specialist
chronic pain and rehabilitation clinics, and has
published a number of research papers dealing with yoga
and meditation and its application to health/stress
management and wellness.
CLASS LOCATIONS -
TOOWOOMBA
Classes are held at the
Studio at the Top of the Range, a purpose built and designed
studio with teaching and consulting facilties available,
catering to Group and Private Individual Tuition. The
following programs are on offer in 2002:
- Beginners: A beginner's
preparatory course offering a mild introductory class to
postures and breathing (4 - 6 weeks).
- Progressive Yoga: Basic
poses and breathing are refined with an emphasis on
increasing the students understanding and interest in
yoga as a system of health management and personal
development (6 - 8 weeks);
- Training Program in
Yoga: Offers further theory and practise for students
wishing to pursue a career in yoga teaching and/or a more
focused and individualised study of yoga as a system of
health management and personal development. Contact

the benefits of a quiet, alert stillness that contributes
to management of the numerous life stressors and
motivation.
