2 Study Weekends over 3 months

The Foundation Yoga Studies Course is designed for students interested in pursuing knowledge and a deeper understanding of yoga and and in particular yoga Philosophy. Over two study weekends in February and March (for face to face students) of each year this introductory course is run in conjunction with the IYTA Diploma of Yoga Teaching in Sydney, Australia.

Alternatively, the course can be joined at any time via correspondence (online).

The Course comprises:
  • Two full study weekends (either face to face in Sydney or via online video for correspondence)
  • Yoga Philosophy, including Yoga History, Yogic Paths and the technique of Relaxation
  • Asana Practice including Basic Alignment of postures
  • Yoga Anatomy for Asana postures
  • Pranayama – the yogic techniques of breathing practices
Options available when joining the Foundation Yoga Studies Course:
  • You can attend either in person (Crows Nest Centre, Sydney Australia), OR by correspondence to complete set assignments to receive a Certificate of Completion.
  • This Certificate gives 70 accredited hours toward the complete International Diploma of Yoga Teaching course, if you go on to complete the Diploma within three years.
  • The second option is to attend the lectures either in person or by correspondence and enjoy the learning without any further obligation of assessments. These students receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Course cost covers:
  • Two study weekends and all videos of lectures  
  • IYTA Asana handbook of 84 main yoga postures – Sanskrit and English, includes modifications and sequencing in and out of postures
  • Patanjali’s Meditation Yoga Book
  • Submission and marking of Assessments in relation to these study weekends (optional)
  • Free Mentor assistance

As a Graduate you will:

  • have a deeper understanding of the Philosophy and teachings of yoga, including yoga history, yogic paths and the technique of relaxation
  • know yoga anatomy for asana postures
  • understand asana practice including basic alignment of postures
  • understand Pranayama – the yogic techniques of breathing practices
  • receive either:
    • Certificate of Completion - assessment required; or
    • Certificate of Attendance - no assessment
