Types & Styles of Yoga - Hatha Yoga - Pranayama - Other Styles

Hatha Yoga

The path whereby the aspirant endeavours to reach Self-realization through the attainment of physical control, perfect health of the body and control of the breath.

To bring balance to the body - Ha: - Sun or physical side, balanced with - tha: Moon or mental side.

 Hatha yoga practice consists of 7 steps

  1. Sat Kriyas - cleansing practices
  2. Asanas - postures
  3. Mudras and Bandhas - locks and seals through postures and gestures with the hands
  4. Pratyahara - drawing the senses inward
  5. Pranayama - breathing practices
  6. Dhyana - meditation
  7. Samadhi - Self-realization
