What is
in an IYTA Yoga class?
Classes vary from teacher
to teacher and according to the needs of a
particular group. IYTA teachers aim to bring
balance and variety to each class and to modify
the postures to suit the students.
Classes include
stretching, Asanas (postures), Pranayama
(breathing techniques), relaxation, meditation
and philosophy.
Asanas may include
limbering, lying on the back or the abdomen, and
standing, twisting, back arching, inverting,
forward stretching, lateral and sitting
postures.
Some classes have been
created to meet specific needs of students eg.
pregnant women, children, the older or less
mobile and those requiring therapeutic
treatment. Classes dealing primarily with
Pranayama, relaxation and meditation are also
available.
Many IYTA teachers offer
classes in schools, hospitals and in the
workplace, as well as one-to-one
tuition.

Why Choose an
IYTA Class
An IYTA trained teacher
receives a comprehensive training in all aspects
of yoga. The course is highly regarded for its
teaching of
philosophy,
pranayama,
the
eight-fold path of yoga
and the use of vinyasa
(the limbering of the body in preparation for
the asana and countering its effects). Teachers
receive 12 months of tuition and mentoring
throughout the course.
IYTA teachers aim to adapt
the asana to suit everyone in the class, to add
a hint of philosophy and to bring a balance of
physical for the body, relaxation for the mind
and meditation for the soul.
IYTA teachers seek to gain
wisdom from all sources.
